Terms and conditions

If you work for us, you will be employed as a temporary seasonal worker, and for reasons of crop, weather and customer demand, work cannot be promised at any time and when offered, you will not be compelled to take it.

Rates of pay are as set out in the Agricultural Wages Order 2008/2009. Holiday pay is accrued for each day and is either paid at the end of the term of employment or before holidays are taken.

Many jobs including picking are paid using a piece rate. This means that the more you do, the more you can earn. Good pickers will earn considerably more than the Agricultural Minimum Wage.

When picking strawberries, raspberries or blackberries you will be expected to pick a targetted number of kilograms of berries per hour. The number of kilograms targetted will depend on the density of the crop, weather and time of season.

As the fruit needs to be picked in the cool of the day, work will often start at 5am.

Normally, depending on the availability of work, you will work five or six days a week.
